Troop 162 has been an active troop since 1945, and it is has seen many Scouts come and go. One hundred and nineteen of them became Eagle Scouts.
Our Troop isn’t just about focusing on advancement. We have slept on an 888-foot, 45,000-ton battleship, sold 625 Christmas trees in less than three weeks, and worked together to lift our entire troop over a 16-foot wall.
We are a very active Troop, and go camping once a month. Past trips that we have gone on include biking through Virginia, backpacking, and sleeping in a Sportrock facility.
Welcome to 162! If you’re thinking about joining, there’s always a place for you in the troop. We meet at Westover Baptist Church 1125 N. Patrick Henry Dr.Arlington, VA 2220. We meet on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00p. Click here for a map. Just stop by and check us out! You don’t have to register, and if you like what we do, you can register with us later. If you and your Cub Scout Den wish to visit us, please give us a shout so we can be expecting you.
The Patrol Leaders’ Council is a group of Scouts, led by the Senior Patrol Leader, who hold leadership positions in the troop and plan the activity for the year. They meet on the first Monday of each month from 7:30 to 9:00p to iron out the details of each meeting and campout. They also plan the outline for the year at the annual Planning Campout. Decisions are made democratically so that each patrol has a say in the decisions that are made. All members of the troop are encouraged to attend PLC meetings, however only the SPL, ASPLs, Patrol Leaders, and Quartermasters are allowed to vote.
